Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma

You might be confused when researching hypnotherapy and NLP training. Each provider offers you something different — or so it would seem! The one thing you can be sure of if you choose Joy Gower Training is that the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD) we offer is a bona fide diploma fully accredited by the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH). It was developed by the NCH to bring hypnotherapy up to a quality level that clients should expect.  More information here. This diploma is externally accredited by NCFE, a leading UK awarding body, and whilst we are not saying other providers [...]

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the new kid on the block. It's being backed by scientific research. Does this remind you of something? Cognitive Behavoural therapy (CBT) was the previous new kid on the block. CBT was hailed as the new therapy. It deals with our conscious thought patterns and aims to change the way we think. It's a good idea to change negative thought patterns, but if they are 'programmed' in unconsciously, then they just keep happening. Here is a very good article to read about Mindfulness and NLP

How to choose the right therapist

It can be a minefield when choosing who the right person may be for you to go and see for therapy. The good news is that more people are turning to Hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) as a way to quickly overcome problems. However, problems can still arise when thinking about who to see. Anyone can set up a practice with very little training unfortunately and until the practice is fully regulated, instead of self-regulated, we will continue to see practitioners who have had little experience of working with the general public. Training providers There are also training providers who [...]

How to make the best of yourself

I am from an older generation, and so I can only recall pop stars and not celebrities. I would not have known what a celebrity was back in the 1960s. The Beatles were pop stars, and nothing else really mattered. As a girl I thought about my looks and being slim, and not fat, was important, but the only faddy diet I did was for two days and that was eating as many apples as you wanted to. The tummy gripes got to me in the end and so I gave up. Celebrities It would appear that anyone who [...]

Are you suffering from discontentment?

There is an epidemic out there! No it is not Swine Flu, and you cannot take any drug to eliminate it. The epidemic is discontentment. It does not affect everyone. Some people are immune to it, and no matter how many people they are around or what they hear or see on the radio or TV, they never pick this virus up. They truly are contented people, no matter how rich or poor they are. Contentment for them may mean enjoying each moment of every day. They count their blessings, even when they do not have the material possessions that [...]

Mind Associates confidence workshop

It was a great pleasure to be asked to create a confidence workshop for Mind Associates on Tuesday 27 May. 25 people took part and we explored how you find the confidence to do the things you would like to do. It was fun and enjoyable. Everyone participated and went away with some ideas to improve their thought processes and manage the negatives in life.

Psychotherapy or Hypnotherapy?

It is not necessary to know the theory or history of psychotherapy to be a good therapist, whether you are using psychotherapy or hypnotherapy, or other forms of therapy. However, it may be of interest to understand where it came from and how hypnotherapy developed, but the most important factor is the quality of the therapeutic relationship. Which form of psychotherapy is most effective? There is considerable controversy about which form of psychotherapy is most effective, and more specifically, which types of therapy are optimal for treating which sorts of problems. Furthermore, it is controversial whether the form of therapy [...]
