Joy Gower

Joy has had many years experience in helping people to become more assertive and empowered through classes and weekends away with groups of people. Her work has also included voluntary service as an Independent Board Member at Norwich prison and as a trustee at the Norfolk Mediation Service.

Since gaining her Cognitive Hypnotherapy Diploma and Master NLP Practitioner certificate with one of the country's leading therapists and trainers, she has built a busy practice in Norwich with clients and also training other therapists. She has also devised a unique programme with traders in the stock market which has helped them to overcome limiting beliefs.

Further studies have included the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma and Certified Supervisor with the National Council for Hypnotherapy, qualified accredited trainer with the National Guild of Hypnotists and certified trainer of NLP. Other qualifications include Emotional Freedom Technique, Pain Relief Management, Past Life Regression and Tinnitus Relief.

She regularly writes articles for magazines and newspapers and has been heard on local radio talking about her work.

Joy is a course leader and trainer with the East Anglian Institute of NLP and Hypnosis and runs courses with EAI in Hypnotherapy and NLP. Visit this site if you are interested in joining one of our courses.

Why choose me?

When looking for a therapist it's a good idea to ask and find out:

  • How much training they have received and how much ongoing training do they have. Have they got the equivalent of an NVQ level 4 in hypnosis? Some training schools have no external verification that the student has had sufficient training.

  • Do they have regular supervision?

  • Do they belong to a recognised body, e.g. The National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH)?

  • Are they UKCHO registered? This is a national register of qualified hypnotherapists, which shows that they have been trained with a reputable training organisation following national occupational standards, and are bound by a code of ethics.

  • Do you like what they are saying to you? Does what they say about how they can help you sound right to you? Do you feel comfortable with what they are saying?

  • Check how many sessions they expect you to have. As a rule, four sessions is enough for you to make positive changes. Some problems take a lot less than four sessions. Good therapists with integrity do not make you book 10 or 12 sessions or make you pay for that many in advance.

  • Many people choose a therapist because of the location. It would appear to make sense to see someone near you, but choosing the right therapist is far more important. So, if you have to travel a little further to the therapist, allow time for that, safe in the knowledge that you have chosen the right person to help you.

    Testimonials

One of the reasons I do not put testimonials on my site for my therapy work is because it against the principles of the National Council for Hypnotherapy Practising Agreement. Also, you don't find Dentists or Chiropractors selling themselves in this way, so I prefer to let my work speak for itself. Of course, I do have letters and emails that are sent to me which I would be happy to show any client if they needed to be reassured of the success of my work. Many clients have been either referred or recommended to me by word of mouth, and that is usually the best form of testimonial.
