Typical sessions
These are details about some of the programmes I provide. I also give you free CDs to listen to in between sessions.
Hypnotension (TM)
Hypnotension is a new technique that helps to reduce hypertension more naturally. It is useful for people who have raised blood pressure but have not yet resorted to medication,or for those people who are on medication but the blood pressure remains too high.
Over 90% of people with raised blood pressure are diagnosed with Essential Hypertension which translates to meaning there is no known reason for this to happen. There are many factors that can contribute to raised BP including being overweight, although many people who are overweight have perfectly normal BP, smoking, not enough exercise and too much stress in life. The latter is probably responsible for most raised BP, and Hypnotension can help with any or all of these problems. It is a programme of sessions which will include hypnosis, techniques to help you to overcome stress or traumas from the past and lifestyle techniques which will enable you to be much healthier.
This programme consists of four sessions, more if needed or required. £70 per session.
Weight Control
You have been reading for many years that the only real successful way to get rid of unwanted pounds is to change your lifestyle. It may be that you don’t really want to read that, and instead want a quick fix. Even real gastric bands are not really the quick fix forever, unless of course you want the band to stay on forever and have to eat very small amounts and restrict severely what you do eat.
Most people’s eating problems lie in the fact that it is a psychological problem. If you eat because you are bored, need comfort, or want to punish yourself, then it is a compulsion.
Hypnotherapy and other techniques we can use in therapy help you to become more aware of what you do, and then you change the way you think about food.
I have a programme of five sessions to offer you which will help you to re-programme your mind successfully, helping you to make natural and easy choices in the way you think, feel and behave. Clients report that even after one session they are thinking about food in an entirely new way which naturally helps to make more healthy choices with food, and that means the pounds come off easier.
Eating disorders are not only to do with overeating. They can also include bulimia and anorexia. I have successfully treated clients with problems around bulimia fairly quickly. Anorexia is a more complicated and emotional problem; clients do respond to therapy, although it takes longer, so treatment may be over a period of months rather than weeks.
The cost is
£70 per session. You don't have to pay for the whole programme up front, unlike some other programmes. You just pay for the sessions as you attend each one, which can give you more flexibility when budgeting for therapy.
Hypno and Virtual Gastric Band
Therapists have been using the imagination with clients to enable them to believe that they have had a gastric band fitted. It can work successfully with those people who would really like to think their stomach is much smaller. This technique has been around for some time now and it can be really helpful for clients to reduce the amount of food they eat.
Physically having a band fitted can be traumatic for some people, and very costly too. It does not always work either so at some point you have to learn how to eat smaller portions of food and shrink your stomach down naturally. It takes just a short while for your stomach to do this, and once you get over some minor hunger pangs, you feel in control of your eating. Your brain can easily believe that your stomach is shrinking or has shrunk already with a gastric band fitted. If you were anaesthetised and truly believed you had a band fitted, even though the procedure had not been done, you would start to eat less and feel full for longer periods of time.
This procedure can be carried out as part of the Weight Control programme above.
Stop Smoking Programme
Consciously, you may have the desire to stop smoking, but something still drives you towards negative behaviours and habits.
We can teach you techniques through hypnosis and NLP that can help you with your determination and motivation to stop smoking and stay stopped for good.
Of course you have to want to stop, and that is where hypnosis and NLP can help you by reducing any cravings, and helping you to focus on all the reasons why you want to stop.
More smokers now want an ongoing support system that 'Stop Smoking in an Hour' sessions do not provide. The therapist needs to know how successful you have been after the first appointment, and can help you to deal with any issues that may arise, such as overeating.
I offer you full support in the fact that I see you over two sessions, and give you a guarantee that if for any reason you return to smoking within one year of therapy, I will give you free therapy. I also give you a CD for you to listen to that helps to re-inforce all the work we have done.
I like to think I am serious and tenacious enough to help you to stop smoking, so I do my very best to help you to become successful. People with any other addictions get plenty of support and in my view, smokers need encouragement and support in these first few weeks.
The cost of all this programme is
£185.
Stress and Anxiety
We often think that stress is bad. This is not always the case. Everyone responds to stress differently. Stress only becomes a problem when it manifests itself through symptoms such as panic attacks, fears and phobias, or lack of confidence. It can also suppress the immune system and lead to illness.
Hypnosis can help to resolve stress by tracing the initial event that established the problem in the first place and replacing it with a more appropriate response.
When you learn how to handle stress, it can boost your confidence, both personally and professionally. To feel balanced and at peace with yourself and others is perhaps how you would like to feel.
Many people feel varying degrees of anxiety, and all of them want an easier, more contented life, free of anxiety, and even more importantly, the ability to deal with any stressful situations that are very likely to happen in life,
The use of hypnosis and Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) help people to change behaviours very quickly and deal with anxiety and stress. Usually, a four session programme is enough to make powerful positive changes that can change your life for good.
The fees are
£70 for a one hour session.
Confidence
We all have different amounts of confidence within us. Past events, and negative experiences can stop us from being as confident as we would like to be. It may feel like someone or something is chipping away at our self-esteem, and that when we think about things we would like or have to do, we feel nervous and anxious, and then we feel sabotaged by our own feelings.
Without confidence we feel as though our choices are being limited. We stop doing the things we would like to do because we may fear we are not good enough or have low self-worth.
Public presentations, interviews or appraisals often fill us with fear and anxiety, far beyond the level we are able to deal with. Rapid heart rate, sweating and dry mouth are all symptoms of anxiety. Dizziness and the feeling of wanting to run away are common feelings when under pressure.
Hypnosis, and working with the unconscious mind will help you to get rid of limiting beliefs you may have about your own abilities.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), along with many other techniques, will empower you to become the you you want to be.
Could you benefit from finding out how to be as confident as you would like to be?
Session fees are
£70 per hour, and after one session you can begin to notice all the differences that make the difference.
IBS
Hypnosis is regarded as one of the most effective ways of helping clients to overcome the symptoms of IBS.
Often IBS strikes when stress occurs, or just after an anxious experience.
Using hypnosis as a therapy, many clients report they become free of the symptoms, and know what to do if they feel stressful.
£70 per session.
ME/CFS/PVFS (Myalgic Encephalopathy/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome)
I experienced what I now know to be ME. It was 1976 and I began to suffer from all kinds of aches and pains, headaches, pains in my arms and in my hands and some pains in my wrist that felt like someone was squeezing my wrist tightly. I also had many stomach problems, sleeplessness and anxiety that caused some panic attacks. I visited many doctors whose answers ranged from pull yourself together, to giving valium to quieten me down. I had feelings of doom and gloom, thinking bad things were about to happen, and if I tried to do anything energetic, I would have to spend the next few days in bed to get over it. I eventually resorted to acupuncture, and after a time it did have an effect on me which was positive. The pain was not so bad, and started to subside, but the anxious thoughts were still there. I would not take medication as I believed that I could find my way through it.
Eventually after some years I got better, but it took a long time and a divorce for me to realise that part of the problem was my unhappy life.
I am not saying that everyone with ME is unhappy with their personal life, although it does have a great affect on relationships. I do believe though that something triggers the immune system into doing less of a job that it needs to. Often a virus will trigger ME, but what I am most interested in is what came before the virus. What was happening long before the effects?
I do wish that I had know about hypnosis and NLP, as I truly do think now that this would have been a way out for me. There is such a strong link between mind and body, and the way we think is the way we behave, and so it is no wonder that our bodies can react if we are constantly thinking negatively.
It is good to have a diagnosis of what is wrong; especially when we have such problems with our bodies that we think we are going mad. Well I did anyway, and sometimes thought I would rather not live this way, but I had two sons who needed me, so I kept going for them. Once a diagnosis is made, we can begin to make choices about what therapies will help us. Many complimentary therapies can be extremely useful, and one of the most important things to learn is how to relax well. Not always easy if you are in pain or feel really depressed. Hypnosis and NLP is one of the ways that you can make changes. Shiatsu, reflexology and massage can do wonders to restore a sense of well-being.
There are some workshops that use NLP available now for people with ME, which for some people can be helpful, but I do think that longer term support is more helpful. On a workshop you will be with other people and the idea is that you learn some techniques that will be useful when you get home. I believe that longer term support so that the therapist can guide you and lead you into a healthier way of being is more useful. It can take some time to have a strong faith and trust in the work you are doing with a therapist. You want to have some evidence that something is working for you, so a three or four day workshop may not be enough for you.
I have worked with many people who have had ME, and providing that they are able to visit me, we can work together to make positive changes. One of my clients said that she had lost faith in her own body, and that she did not think it would heal itself. She rediscovered the faith she had with the work we did together, and is much happier and more energetic than she has been for the last twelve years.
Never give up is my motto, and if you want to work with me to help yourself to a healthier life, then you might want to explore hypnosis and NLP to reconnect your mind with your body.
The fees are
£70 for a one hour session.
Addictions and Compulsions
You may be someone who has gone through different therapies to overcome the problems you have with addictions. Some may have had an effect, others may not, and that would be reason enough for you to be looking at this website.
We also call addictions compulsions, that lead from compelling thoughts. And it is these thoughts that drive you toward behaviours you don't like, or are not beneficial to you.
If you are looking at this website, you are probably fed up in some way about your behaviours.
Quick fixes don't work all the time. but what can work is re-training your mind to change the way you think. By using certain processes and techniques, you can find yourself making a shift in the way you think. This in turn changes the way you feel, so the compulsions become less desirable. If you change the way you feel, behaviour begins to change and those outside influences seem less desirable.
Other symptoms
Many other symptoms that are either diagnosed or undiagnosed (i.e. cannot find a medical reason for the symptoms) can be relieved by the use of hypnosis and other techniques which help clients to become more comfortable.
